Meet Warwick
Thats The Finish was created by director Warwick Hull-Moody. Warwick started his trade in Coffs Harbour with a large commercial firm T&C Hudson specializing in Wattyl Granosite texture applications on commercial buildings, primarily clubs and multi-storey buildings. Wanting to expand his knowledge of the trade, he moved as third year to a small company specializing in project homes D&S Didona , who worked for the major project home builder in Coffs harbour, at the time Hibbard homes.
Having grounded himself in new home/commercial work, Warwick decided to move to Sydney to learn the renovation side of painting. He secured a position with renowned Master Painter Keith Brownscombe. Keith was a life member of the master painters and specialized in high quality painting and decorating in the Eastern suburbs / Lower North Shore. Keith worked for many of Sydney’s leading interior designers and on many prestigious homes including the late Kerry Packers house in Bellevue Hill which Warwick helped paint.
The complete restoration of the external façade including the unveiling of late 19th century signage, the graining of the front doors and every manner of wallpaper and decorative finish internally imaginable.
Fast forward 25 years and That’s The Finish have just finished the Collectionist Hotel in Camperdown another wonderful example of amazing design, art finishes, polished plaster, wallpaper and painting – a contemporary masterpiece.
Other examples of Warwick’s That’s The Finish work include many of Sydney’s iconic hotels, pubs, clubs and commercial outlets including the Hilton and Radisson hotels, the Woolloomooloo Bay Hotel, the Oaks Hotel, the Observer Hotel, Louis Vuitton, Paspaley Pearls and Gucci to mention just a few.
This is a small snippet of Warwick’s Journey in the painting and decorating Industry.
As Warwick’s business constantly changes his philosophy doesn’t. He embraces change as a challenge, treats his clients with honesty and respect, delivers on his commitments and always strives to produce a high quality product.
Warwick finished his trade as a painter and decorator by picking up the converted award of Apprentice of the Year. Having rounded his education in painting and decorating, Warwick decided to leave Keith and work for himself continuing to further his education at T.A.F.E with night courses in Wallpapering / Marbling and Graining. He continued working in the high end repainting market developing his own network of Interior Designers and Architects. As Warwick’s business Thats the Finish expanded, so did its business platform. The cross over between domestic and commercial stimulated his need to learn even more skills. Traditional painting and wallpapering would always underpin his business, but the emergence of many new European finishes, Polished Plaster (Stucco Marmorino), Faux and broken colour started to play a major role in Thats The Finishes portfolio of work.
One of Thats The Finishes best examples of the fusion of painting, wallpapering and decorative finishes is the Russell and Fortune of War Hotel at the Rocks, where every room is a different example of what decorating can achieve. Thanks to the Ashley Family, Warwick was able to completely show case his work.
